Welcome to VBIPDC
The goal of the "The Proteomics Data Center" at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) is to provide a single, integrated proteomics information repository, user interfaces, and necessary analysis tools for the seven Proteomics Research Centers (PRPs) funded through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases(NIAID). The members of the Administrative Resource Centers for the NIAID Biodefense Proteomics Research Programsare the Georgetown University Medical Center and VBI under the leadership of Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. Their goal is to provide a full range of information technology, scientific, and administrative support.
The Protein Information Resource (PIR), located at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and directed by Dr. Cathy Wu, is an integrated public bioinformatics resource that supports genomic and proteomic research and scientific studies. The primary mission of Social & Scientific Systems, Inc (SSS) is to support programs throughout the world in fighting the battle against HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Working behind the scenes, we help our clients carry out their research missions, enhance their communications, shape health care policy, and promote and enhance knowledge about public health. Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI), a Commonwealth of Virginia shared resource established at Virginia Tech in July 2000, serves as a flagship bioinformatics research institute wedding cutting-edge biological research with state-of-the-art computer science.
